About this role

The Accountant will coordinate, compile, review, analyze, reconcile, and interpret financial information to prepare working papers and internal, statutory and GAAP basis financial statements and supplementary schedules. The role includes investment and cash reconciliations, communication across offices, process review, and responding to auditor and state regulator inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare working papers and internal, statutory and GAAP basis financial statements and supplementary schedules;Reconcile investment and cash accounts and general ledger account balances;Coordinate reporting communication between offices and Omaha;Review and suggest improvements to reconciliation and reporting processes;Respond to inquiries from internal and external auditors and state regulators

Technical Overview

This role is focused on accounting and financial reporting workflows, including GAAP and statutory accounting, workbook/report compilation, reconciliation to the general ledger, and assigning codes to data for the general ledger system. It also includes collaboration with senior management, outside actuaries, and outside tax personnel to meet regulatory reporting requirements, using Excel and Word.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an accountant with 1+ years of accounting experience and strong knowledge of investment types plus GAAP and statutory accounting principles. They can compile and reconcile financial information, create or modify workbooks, prepare working papers and supplementary schedules, and coordinate with senior management, outside actuaries, and outside tax personnel in a hybrid Omaha-based role.
