About this role
Provide accounting expertise and mentorship by compiling, analyzing, and interpreting financial information for leadership decisions. Own month-end and revenue-related close processes, including SEC reporting and SOX controls, while supporting audits and process automation improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform month-end activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, management reporting, SEC reporting and variance analysis
- Prepare and develop schedules, reports, and analyses for internal/external customers
- Provide documentation and explanations for audit processes
- Implement monthly, quarterly, yearly and invoice closing cycles; prepare deferred revenue schedules
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and analyze revenue-related variances
Technical Overview
Performs month-end close activities (journal entries, account reconciliations, management reporting, SEC reporting, variance analysis) and supports revenue accounting through monthly/quarterly/yearly invoice closing cycles and deferred revenue schedules. Applies SOX controls, analyzes volume/activity fluctuations, and may use Oracle and HFM with familiarity of US GAAP.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an Accounting Analyst with 4+ years of energy industry accounting experience, skilled in month-end close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, SEC reporting, and variance analysis. They understand SOX controls and revenue accounting (including deferred revenue schedules) and can communicate clearly with audit stakeholders; CPA and Oracle/HFM experience are strong advantages.
