About this role

The Accounting/Financial Analyst supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for Capital and O&M activities. The role performs journal entries and account reconciliations, prepares audit-ready reports with recommendations, and helps leadership understand the financial implications of operating decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in annual development of the Capital and O&M Budgets and evaluate monthly and YTD variances
Develop short and long term forecasts and provide financial analysis to leaders
Prepare and enter journal entries and perform account reconciliations
Prepare, document, and present analysis or audit reports with recommendations
Maintain complex spreadsheets and apply financial controls and reporting requirements

Technical Overview

This role performs finance analytics including monthly and YTD variance analysis and short- and long-term forecasting, supported by complex spreadsheet work. It requires accurate accounting execution (journal entries, account reconciliations) and documentation of analyses or audit reports to meet financial controls and reporting requirements.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an entry-level accounting/financial analyst with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business field. They can manage budgeting activities (Capital and O&M Budgets), perform monthly and YTD variance analysis, and build short- and long-term forecasts. They are accurate with journal entries and account reconciliations, and they can prepare and present audit-style financial analysis with strong attention to detail.
