Accounting Risk and Policy Manager

This role owns and maintains Bancorp accounting policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with GAAP and effective monitoring of emerging accounting issues. It also interprets newly issued standards, coordinates implementation, consults with finance teams on technical accounting topics, and communicates impacts to leadership and the Audit Committee.

• Develop and maintain Bancorp accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP
• Monitor emerging accounting issues and standards and assess implications
• Interpret newly issued standards and coordinate adoption implementation strategy
• Quantify current and expected financial statement impacts for Finance organization and the Audit Committee
• Consult with Affiliate, centralized and LOB finance teams on technical accounting topics and contribute to transaction structures and contractual agreements

The position focuses on technical accounting governance: monitoring and interpreting GAAP-related standards, developing comment letters as appropriate, quantifying financial statement impacts, and coordinating adoption implementation strategy across departments. It also includes risk management accountability for accounting risk and external reporting initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a senior accounting policy and risk professional with strong GAAP expertise who can monitor emerging accounting issues and standards, interpret newly issued guidance, and oversee implementation across the organization. They communicate policy changes, quantify financial statement impacts for Finance and the Audit Committee, and consult with Affiliate, centralized, and LOB finance teams while maintaining accountability for risk within the bank’s risk appetite.
