About this role
This role coordinates hospital admissions by handling switchboard calls, verifying insurance, and processing admitting forms and signatures. The Admissions Coordinator also updates admission/discharge information in the system and documents Patient Rights Booklet and Advance Directive information.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify insurances (on line and by phone) and document eligibility terms
- Conduct admission process and explain forms to patients/families
- Enter and delete admission/discharge information in the computer system
- Compile accurate admissions/discharges information on the daily census sheet
- Answer switchboard and direct/transfer calls appropriately
Technical Overview
The technical scope is primarily administrative/system-based: entering and updating admission and discharge data in the computer system, maintaining daily census sheet information, and managing patient-record documentation for Patient Rights and Advance Directive materials.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has experience supporting hospital admissions or patient intake, including insurance verification and processing admitting paperwork. They are comfortable answering a hospital switchboard professionally, documenting information in patient records, and coordinating with intake departments, patients, and nursing units.
