Xcel Energy is hiring an Advanced Step Apprentice/Journeyman Gas Technician for the Faribault Service Center. The role focuses on maintaining and installing gas system components, performing meter and regulator work, and responding to gas leak emergencies while meeting safety and compliance requirements.

Work includes district regulator maintenance, odorization, meter testing, instrument calibration, meter and large regulator sizing/maintenance/installation, plastic pipe fusion, tapping, and operational surveys. The technician must handle gas leak investigation and repair, perform cathodic protection and locating, and maintain valves and meters while meeting Operator Qualification requirements and DOT testing.

The ideal candidate is a Gas Technician with 3+ years of experience (or equivalent Journeyman-level experience) performing gas construction and gas service work. They are experienced with meter testing, regulator and district regulator maintenance, odorization, plastic pipe fusion, and gas leak investigation and repair, and they can meet Operator Qualification requirements and DOT testing. They must be able to obtain/hold a Class A commercial driver's license and be located within 20 miles of the Faribault Service Center.
