About this role

As an Automation Engineer, you will be the site expert for maintaining and improving automation systems that keep fulfillment centers running reliably. You will troubleshoot material handling control systems, analyze equipment performance, and partner with maintenance/operations to drive continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain automation systems critical to operations
Troubleshoot material handling control systems (PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks like Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus)
Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations for performance analysis
Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians locally and remotely
Perform and analyze building System Assessments to enhance material handling performance

Technical Overview

The role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting industrial automation using PLC/PC controllers, SCADA, and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and Profibus. It also includes working with material handling technologies like conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and print and apply systems, plus executing System Assessments to enhance performance.

The ideal candidate is an automation engineer with 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience supporting material handling equipment (MHE) in fulfillment or production environments. They are strong in troubleshooting control systems, working with SCADA and industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus), and driving continuous improvement through performance metrics and system assessments.
