About this role
Automation Engineer for Amazon’s Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team supporting automation systems in fulfillment centers. The role focuses on proactive controls automation, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and continuous improvement for material handling equipment (MHE).
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers
- Support and troubleshoot industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus)
- Monitor MHE metrics and analyze performance across operations
- Provide first-level escalation support locally and remotely
- Perform and analyze building System Assessments to enhance material handling system performance
Technical Overview
You will maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus). Responsibilities include working with SCADA devices and programs and supporting automation technologies such as conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and print and apply systems.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an Automation Engineer with 2+ years (or a related bachelor's degree) in PLC programming and controls automation. They can troubleshoot material handling control systems using industrial network protocols and SCADA, analyze equipment performance metrics, and partner with maintenance and operations to drive continuous improvement in fulfillment centers.
