About this role
Serve as an AWS Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical authority for a federal agency project. You will lead AWS architecture guidance, manage an AWS team, design secure cloud solutions, and support migrations and DevOps automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Be technical authority on AWS services and cloud architecture
- Manage an AWS team and mentor engineering teams
- Design and review secure, scalable, resilient cloud solutions
- Develop and enforce cloud governance, security, and compliance frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP)
- Optimize cost, performance, reliability; support DevOps CI/CD and automation
Technical Overview
The role covers AWS cloud architecture across Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda, and Amazon VPC, plus cloud governance and security/compliance alignment with NIST and FedRAMP. You will implement and review Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and CloudFormation, and support DevOps CI/CD pipelines and automation with a focus on cost, performance, and reliability.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior AWS engineer with 10+ years of IT experience focused on AWS architecture and hands-on cloud leadership. They have strong Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), networking/security/identity management, and experience aligning solutions to NIST and FedRAMP security and compliance frameworks, with the ability to manage an AWS team.
