The Benefits Accounting Manager is an individual contributor role responsible for mastering benefits accounting and delivering accurate financial statement reporting. The role also drives internal control adherence, process improvements, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance reporting outcomes and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze trends and results and contribute to financial reporting commentary
Complete expense projections, accounting memos, and financial statements with accuracy and compliance
Develop and assure adherence to an internal control framework; monitor control environment including vendor accounting
Collaborate across HR, accounting policy, close and consolidations, FP&A, expense management, financial reporting, and corporate shared services
Identify and implement accounting improvements; lead complex projects and continuous improvement activities

Technical Overview

The scope centers on corporate benefits accounting (pension, thrift, and other benefit plans), producing compliant financial statements, supporting expense projections and accounting memos, and monitoring the benefits accounting control environment including vendor-performed accounting. It also involves close and consolidation support and partnering with FP&A and financial reporting teams.

The ideal candidate is an experienced corporate finance professional (6+ years) with strong benefits accounting and financial statement reporting experience, including pension and thrift-related accounting. They demonstrate solid internal control execution, collaboration across finance functions (close/consolidations, FP&A, expense management), and a track record of process improvement and analytical commentary that improves reporting quality and efficiency.
