About this role
OHSU’s BIAA team seeks a Senior Application Engineer to design, develop, and support enterprise data warehouse solutions for population health and clinical operations. The role focuses on ETL development across Epic Caboodle, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure, plus BI asset support using Power BI and Caboodle models.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize ETL pipelines (Caboodle, SSIS, Fabric, Azure)
- Develop and maintain star-schema structures including SCDs
- Build Power BI data models, dashboards, and semantic layers
- Support secure data ingestion/exchange (SFTP/PGP) with third parties
- Troubleshoot ETL failures, performance issues, and data anomalies
Technical Overview
You will build ETL pipelines using Epic Caboodle Console, SQL Server SSIS, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Data Factory. The technical work includes SQL/T-SQL optimization, data profiling/validation, star-schema and Slowly Changing Dimensions design, and Power BI semantic layer/dashboards support with Epic SlicerDicer models.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior-level application/data engineer with 2+ years of SQL Server SSIS experience and strong advanced SQL/T-SQL skills. They have built ETL pipelines and data structures using Epic Caboodle, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure (Databricks, Data Lake Storage, Data Factory), and they support analytics delivery in a healthcare data environment using Power BI and Epic SlicerDicer.
