About this role
The Coding Auditor Specialist ensures accurate and compliant physician coding through detailed audits, focusing on E/M and procedure coding, and provides feedback and education to providers and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed audits of physician documentation and coding; Validate documentation supports E/M leveling and procedures billed; Conduct pre-bill and post-bill audits; Review coding for ED/urgent care/wound care; Maintain knowledge of CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS and CMS/AMA guidelines
Technical Overview
Role requires CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS knowledge; adherence to CMS/AMA guidelines; proficiency with EMR systems and Excel for audits and reporting.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a mid-level medical coder with 2+ years of physician/RCM experience, strong E/M and procedure coding expertise, and CPC/CCS/AAPC/AHIMA certifications preferred. Able to audit, educate, and collaborate with providers to improve coding accuracy.
