Position Details
About this role
Amazon Leo is building a LEO satellite broadband system, and this role leads design and development of the communications payload, customer terminal, and end-to-end communication system. You will develop physical layer and protocol stack proof-of-concepts, build modeling/simulation tools, and support HW/SW integration and verification for link bring-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Define communication system architecture and broadband wireless network approach
- Lead design and development of advanced physical layer and protocol stacks for proof of concept
- Develop simulation tools and model physical layer aspects (receiver modeling, interference cancellation, FEC abstractions)
- Perform system integration and verification of HW and SW sub-systems
- Analyze and improve system-level performance (throughput, latency, availability, packet loss)
Technical Overview
The technical scope covers communication system architecture, performance analysis (throughput, latency, availability, packet loss), physical layer and protocol stack reference implementations, and physical layer simulation/modeling. The work emphasizes digital signal processing, information theory, wireless communications, advanced receiver modeling, interference cancellation, and FEC abstraction, followed by rigorous integration and verification of HW and SW sub-systems.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has a PhD or a Master's degree with 5+ years of quantitative field research experience and 3+ years of wireless communications systems and implementation experience. They have led design/development of communication system components (physical layer and protocol stacks), built simulation tools, and contributed to receiver modeling, interference cancellation, and FEC abstraction. They can integrate and verify HW/SW sub-systems and deliver proof-of-concept reference implementations for LEO broadband performance improvements.
