About this role

Amazon is hiring a Data Engineer III to design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics. The role includes building ETL/ELT pipelines and OLAP-based solutions using SQL and Oracle, and using OBIEE to deliver online reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for business intelligence analytics
Implement data structures using ETL/ELT processes, SQL, Oracle, and OLAP technologies
Provide on-line reporting and analysis using OBIEE business intelligence tools and a logical abstraction layer
Translate business and functional requirements into robust, scalable, operable data architecture solutions
Produce comprehensive dataset documentation and metadata and mentor junior data engineers

Technical Overview

You will implement data structures following data modeling best practices and ETL/ELT processes, leveraging OLAP technologies and SQL with Oracle. The work includes providing reporting via OBIEE, building logical abstraction layers over multi-dimensional datasets, and managing end-to-end delivery from design through maintenance with strong dataset documentation and metadata.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a Data Engineer III with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) and 3+ years of experience building and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics. They are strong in ETL/ELT, OLAP technologies, data modeling, and SQL, with experience using Oracle and OBIEE for online reporting and analysis.
