About this role
This internship supports both traditional SQL Server DBA tasks and modern data engineering work in a cloud data lakehouse environment. You will assist senior DBAs and data engineers with operational maintenance and pipeline development using Azure services and Snowflake.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist DBAs with health checks, index maintenance, job monitoring, troubleshooting
- Help build, test, and maintain data pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Snowflake
- Support ingestion, organization, and optimization of data in Azure Data Lake Storage
- Contribute to dbt models and transformations under guidance
- Support data governance, documentation, and operational reliability
Technical Overview
The role centers on Microsoft SQL Server administration (backups, restores, monitoring, performance tuning, security fundamentals) and data engineering using Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Snowflake, and dbt for data modeling and transformations. You will support data governance, documentation, and operational reliability for analytics-ready data pipelines.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a college intern who is passionate about data and eager to learn database administration and data engineering. They have hands-on or coursework exposure to Microsoft SQL Server administration and building data pipelines in Azure (Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage) and/or Snowflake, plus familiarity with dbt for data modeling and transformations.
