About this role
Diesel Mechanic is responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs for diesel tractors, trailers, and trailer refrigeration units at the Salt Lake City distribution center. The role includes diagnosing issues, responding to driver calls for assistance, and maintaining a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on diesel tractors, trailers, and trailer refrigeration units
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment problems
- Maintain and repair engines, starting and charging, cooling, electrical, body, wheels, brakes and suspension
- Answer drivers' telephone request for assistance with equipment failure
- Follow all company procedures and ensure a safe work environment
Technical Overview
This is a fleet maintenance role focused on diesel equipment upkeep, troubleshooting, and mechanical/electrical/cooling/braking/suspension repairs. The work is performed in an on-site, air-conditioned truck shop supporting a regional supply chain.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a diesel mechanic with prior experience performing preventative maintenance and diagnosing/repairing diesel tractors, trailers, and trailer refrigeration units. They hold a valid driver's license, have their own tools (including air tools), and can work safely in a fast-paced distribution center maintenance facility.
