About this role
Maintain tractors and trailers to Company/DOT specifications at the lowest possible cost per mile by performing preventative maintenance and repairing mechanical/electrical failures. Provide repair support in response to driver equipment failures while ensuring safe work practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance checks on tractors every 30,000 miles and trailers every three months
- Repair equipment problems and assist drivers with telephone requests while on the road
- Maintain and repair equipment including engine, electrical, drive train, suspension, body and fender
- Supply own tools including air tools and follow company procedures
- Ensure safe work environment and complete required documents
Technical Overview
Performs diesel truck and trailer maintenance including engine, electrical, drive train, suspension, and body/fender repairs. Executes preventative maintenance on a mileage and time-based schedule and may require DOT-related fitness documentation, along with refrigerant/recycling capability.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced diesel mechanic with 5+ years of heavy duty tractor/trailer repair experience. They can perform preventative maintenance on a set schedule, troubleshoot and repair engine/electrical/drive train/suspension issues, and maintain compliance with Company/DOT specifications while working safely and completing required documentation.
