About this role
This role performs repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and light service vehicles, including diesel and gasoline engines. The technician documents work, monitors consumables usage, and follows safety and compliance procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on engines, transmissions, chassis, driveline and body components
- Interpret equipment condition reports and repair orders; communicate with supervisor/operator
- Complete paperwork, parts usage, and work order/time card documentation
- Conduct daily consumables reporting and follow oil sampling/fleet management analyses
Technical Overview
Work includes mechanical diagnosis and repair across engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, electrical systems, HVAC, and emission systems with specific knowledge of Tier 4 emissions. Responsibilities include using diagnostics such as oil sampling and on-board computer/fleet management software reporting and completing OSHA-compliant maintenance procedures.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced heavy equipment technician (1+ years) who can diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on diesel and gasoline equipment. They have strong ASE-aligned knowledge (especially air brakes, hydraulics, and drivetrain/steering components), understand Tier 4 emission systems, and follow OSHA Haz Com, Lock Out Tag Out, and Fire Protection requirements.
