About this role
This Drafter role creates designs and drawings based on company order forms, customer selection sheets, and prior job information. The work includes ensuring stability, deflection, and load-carrying meets or surpasses codes, completing quality control checks, and collaborating with sales and technical teams to produce accurate design modifications and layouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Create designs and drawings from order and selection information
- Ensure stability, deflection and load carry meet code requirements
- Follow quality control procedures for completeness, accuracy, and code compliance
- Prepare design modifications with client and technical staff
- Develop layouts and technical descriptions, optimizing use of inventory and equipment
Technical Overview
The drafter prepares technical drawings and detailed layouts, writes technical descriptions, and performs code compliance and quality control reviews. The role also supports inventory-efficient design use and benefits from tooling such as AutoCAD, PrimeCad, MS Word, and MS Excel.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an entry-level drafter with an Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent technical training, plus experience producing design drawings and layouts from customer order information. They have strong quality and code-compliance instincts (stability, deflection, load carrying) and ideally experience with AutoCAD and PrimeCad, along with MS Word and MS Excel.
