About this role
The Electric Distribution Controller ensures the safe, reliable operation of Wisconsin Public Service's distribution system. The role coordinates corrective actions, troubleshooting, switching activities, and outage restoration planning while maintaining accurate operating records and system configuration.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with peers and key internal groups to meet business unit goals
- Operate, troubleshoot, diagnose, and initiate repairs following Protective Card Procedure and safety rules
- Provide work direction to field resources for switching and system activities
- Assign and manage planned switching work to meet switching commitments
- Maintain weather awareness and develop bridging and recovery plans to restore outages
Technical Overview
This role manages real-time distribution system operations, including operating, troubleshooting, diagnosing, initiating repairs, and directing planned/unplanned switching. It also includes creating and using bridging plans and recovery plans for contingency equipment, and preparing switching orders based on switching requests.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is experienced in electric distribution system operations, with a strong safety focus and the ability to follow the Protective Card Procedure. They can troubleshoot and diagnose distribution system issues, initiate repairs and corrective actions, and coordinate planned and unplanned switching with field resources. They are detail-oriented in maintaining operating records, system configuration, and managing outage recovery plans, including weather-related impacts.
