About this role
This role is responsible for troubleshooting, testing, and repairing industrial electrical systems, including medium-voltage lighting, motor starters, switchgear, and UPS components. The electrician will also perform preventive maintenance and support safe electrical work during plant shutdowns and switching activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, test, repair or replace medium voltage lighting and electrical systems
- Maintain AC motor switch gear and control systems
- Perform preventive maintenance on 480V and 4160V motor starters and replace defective parts
- Perform substation and pole switching per procedures as directed
- Maintain compliance with National Electric Code and Grounding requirements while following safety policies
Technical Overview
The electrician will test and service 480V/4160V equipment using appropriate test equipment (including 12,000-V Hot Sticks and a Baker Motor Tester), perform infrared/thermography and vibration analysis, and execute laser alignment tasks. Work includes conduit installation per NEC standards, control circuit troubleshooting up to 480V, and reading/creating wiring diagrams and schematics.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an electrician with strong industrial electrical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance experience in medium-voltage environments (480V/4160V). They can perform testing with specialized tools, maintain motor starters and switchgear, and work safely while following National Electric Code and grounding requirements.
