About this role
This role maintains, tests, troubleshoots, and installs electrical power systems at the Ferndale Refinery, including equipment up to 13.8kv. The electrician focuses on safe work planning, electrical documentation, and repairing a wide range of electrical infrastructure components.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow refinery safe practices and procedures
- Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and obtain work permits
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical equipment including VFDs and wiring systems
- Install conduit and pull wire; configure and commission electrical equipment
- Use test equipment and interpret electrical drawings including P&IDs and single line diagrams
Technical Overview
You will troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems and components including electric motors, protective relays, starter controls, VFDs, wiring systems, overhead lines, heat tracing systems, UPS units, batteries, generators, lighting fixtures, and grounding. The job includes conduit and wire installation, commissioning new equipment, using test equipment (multi-meters, insulation testers/megger, battery testers, signal generators), and operating aerial lifts and related mobile equipment while managing arc flash and PPE requirements.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a journey-level electrician with a current EL01 card and at least 2+ years of experience maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and installing electrical systems in industrial settings. They can interpret electrical documentation (loop drawings, P&IDs, wiring schematics, single line diagrams), work safely with arc flash considerations and appropriate PPE, and operate mobile equipment like aerial lifts and scissor lifts.
