Key Responsibilities
- Administer basic life support and stabilization procedures
- Provide emergency medical care at the basic or intermediate advanced EMT level
- Document patient care and operations in a timely manner
- Drive specially equipped emergency vehicles using required competence
- Maintain compliance with department protocols, policies, and York County EMS response requirements
Technical Overview
The position delivers emergency medical care at the basic or intermediate advanced EMT level using basic life support and stabilization procedures. It requires driving specially equipped emergency vehicles and using technology/software for documentation and care, while meeting certification and NIMS Incident Command/Incident Management training requirements.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an EMT who has completed an accredited EMT Program and holds an active South Carolina EMT certification. They are AHA BLS certified (or able to obtain within 7 days), and have or can complete PALS or PEPP during orientation, along with NIMS Incident Command/Incident Management courses and the required NIMS courses (100, 200, 700, 800).
