About this role
Engineer II - Instrumentation and Controls plans and manages instrument and control engineering projects and programs through all phases, meeting schedule and cost targets. The role creates and reviews engineering deliverables and documentation, performs design reviews, evaluates vendor proposals, and supports issue resolution during construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, manage, and execute instrument and control engineering projects and programs
- Execute and oversee engineering design tasks (modeling, calculations, drawings, specifications)
- Develop, prepare, and review technical documentation and reports
- Conduct design reviews and evaluate vendor proposals for code/standard compliance
- Model, simulate, and analyze design components and resolve technical issues during construction and commissioning
Technical Overview
The role delivers instrumentation/control engineering design work including modeling, calculations, drawings, and specifications, with accurate record keeping across the project lifecycle. It emphasizes standard deliverables such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (PIDs), Input/Output Lists (I/O), Loop Diagrams, BOMs, and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs), along with PLC and DCS (Distributed Control System) knowledge for systems analysis and commissioning support.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an Engineer II-level Instrumentation and Controls professional with a Bachelor's (or Master's) in Instrument/Control Engineering and 2–3 years of engineering or related scientific experience. They are comfortable executing design work (modeling, calculations, drawings, specifications), producing Instrumentation and Controls deliverables (PIDs, I/O lists, loop diagrams, BOMs, EWPs), and supporting design reviews, vendor proposal evaluations, and commissioning.
