About this role
Engineering Consultant I supports project teams by reviewing engineering drawings and specifications, validating data, and assisting with engineering analysis and reporting. The role emphasizes GIS and documentation workflows to ensure accuracy and compliance for electric utility assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Review engineering documents and drawings for key information
- Verify underground and overhead electric system data and documentation
- Perform GIS functions and data validation using GIS, SAP, and repositories
- Provide mark-ups and redlines in accordance with standards
- Assist lead engineers with construction documents, reports, and project deliverables
Technical Overview
Works with engineering document review and utility asset validation using GIS workflows (querying geodatabases, preparing maps/exhibits, extracting data) and client platforms such as SAP and document repositories. Performs QC support, prepares mark-ups/redlines, and helps with construction document deliverables and basic calculations under supervision.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an engineering-focused professional (entry level) with a Bachelor’s or Associate/trade background plus relevant experience in utility or GIS-related work. They can read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, perform GIS data extraction and validation, and support QC and redline mark-ups while coordinating project deliverables.
