About this role
Dell Technologies seeks a Software Principal Engineer for the Datapath team in Bengaluru to design and build next-generation AI data platform storage. You will own end-to-end design across a distributed storage cluster, optimize performance, and contribute to a high-velocity engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build next-generation AI data platform storage (mission-critical components)
- Own end-to-end design across cluster storage system
- Build and harden distributed services: durability, consistency, replication, data paths, metadata, control planes, scheduling, placement, lifecycle management
- Optimize performance across computer, memory, IO, networking (including RDMA) and storage media
- Drive latency and throughput improvements
Technical Overview
Role focuses on enterprise-grade distributed storage technologies, with emphasis on Linux/BSD environments, RDMA networking, NVMe/SSD/HDD storage media, and object storage (Amazon S3/S3). Involves building hardening of distributed services, data paths, metadata, control planes, scheduling, and lifecycle management.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior software principal engineer with deep experience building distributed storage systems, comfortable operating in a Linux/BSD environment, and strong knowledge of high-performance storage hardware and data paths.
