About this role
Engineering Tech - TCE (South Region) supports testing and maintenance on power distribution and substation equipment across several groups (Dist Automation, Testing, Thermography, Battery Specialist, and Corrosion Control). The role requires extended hours and 24x7 coverage during energy delivery emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Dist Automation - performs well-defined testing assignments under guidance of experienced engineer/technician
- Testing Group - perform preventive and corrective maintenance on relays, circuit breakers, and SCADA equipment
- Thermography - perform infrared thermography scans and corona/UV scans on substation equipment
- Battery Specialist - maintain specified station batteries and chargers
- Corrosion Control Group - perform preventive and corrective maintenance on buried lines and microwave towers
Technical Overview
Performs testing and diagnostics on transmission and distribution equipment, including infrared thermography, corona/UV scans, SF6 gas analysis, and relay-related maintenance. Works with blueprints/schematics, SCADA, and field reference materials, with emphasis on safety and NERC compliance.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an mid-to-entry level engineering tech with electrical power distribution experience, skilled in testing, thermography, and maintenance on substation equipment. The role requires on-call readiness and travel to substations, with collaboration across Dist Automation, Testing, Thermography, and Corrosion groups.
