About this role
AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Traffic Engineer for the Indianapolis, IN office, expected to begin in May 2026. The role focuses on building analytic and design skills through supervised engineering work, including drawings, calculations, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engineering design under supervision of an experienced engineer
- Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings
- Collect and analyze data under supervision
- Use computer software for basic engineering problem-solving
- Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision
Technical Overview
The candidate will create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under supervision. They will also collect and analyze data and use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems, leveraging CAD and Microsoft Office Suite as needed.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering and is ready to begin in May 2026. They can assist with traffic engineering design and working drawings under supervision, and they have basic proficiency with CAD and Microsoft Office Suite. Coursework or internship experience related to ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) or traffic is a strong plus.
