About this role

Valero is hiring an External Reporting Analyst to prepare external financial reports for the SEC, banks, and regulatory agencies. The role includes preparing/reviewing workpapers, drafting financial statements and footnotes, and supporting audits related to defined contribution plans and defined benefit pension plans.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare reports filed with the SEC (Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K, Form 11-K) and other regulatory statements
Prepare/review workpapers supporting financial statement disclosures
Review XBRL instance documents as assigned
Draft financial statements including footnotes and support defined contribution and defined benefit pension plan audit requirements
Keep current on GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and resolve technical accounting/reporting issues

Technical Overview

The position focuses on SEC filing preparation (Form 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, 11-K), workpaper support for financial statement disclosures, and review of XBRL instance documents. It also requires staying current on GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and resolving technical accounting/reporting issues.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a mid-level accounting professional with 2+ years of experience in Accounting, Public Accounting, and/or Auditing and a strong background in SEC reporting. They can prepare and review external financial reporting deliverables (10-K/10-Q/8-K/11-K) with accurate workpapers and XBRL instance document review experience. They are detail-oriented, collaborative across departments, and current on GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
