Fiber Optical Splicing Technician responsible for installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optics in mission-critical environments with heavy travel.

Key Responsibilities

Perform fusion and mechanical splicing; prepare and terminate fiber; install and manage fiber in various environments; conduct testing and certify links; analyze OTDR traces

Technical Overview

Deep fiber theory knowledge; fusion/mechanical splicing; OTDR-based troubleshooting; DWDM/CWDM considerations; safety and regulatory compliance; ISP/OSP experience

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a mid-level fiber technician with 3+ years of hands-on splicing/testing experience, strong OTDR interpretation, and the ability to work in data center or field environments with strict uptime requirements. Must be comfortable with travel in live networks and laser safety.
