About this role
This role supports Financial Protection by designing, structuring, and placing MPC and MPLX insurance programs and partnering with business units to manage insurance and risk exposure. You will handle policy renewals, contractual indemnity/insurance requirements reviews, surety bonds and certificates, budget oversight, and coordination of insurance-related activities for refinery risk and incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Renew insurance policies and balance efficient risk transfer with reducing exposure
- Review insurance requirements and indemnity provisions in thirdparty contracts
- Oversee preparation of the insurance department budget
- Coordinate insurance claim administration following major incidents and support issuance of certificates of insurance and surety bonds
- Coordinate and oversee refinery risk surveys with insurance carriers
Technical Overview
The work is centered on insurance program administration tied to financial risk management. Responsibilities include routine financial analysis and reporting, data aggregation from internal and external sources, budgeting, and coordination of insurance claim administration and refinery risk surveys with carriers.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an entry-level finance or accounting professional with a Bachelor’s degree and 0–3 years of experience in Accounting or Finance. They have strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with exposure to insurance policies and risk management concepts.
