About this role
This Fleet Mechanic II position ensures trucks, trailers, and yard tractors are working order and compliant with federal standards. The role performs inspections, electrical and mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance (PMs), and DOT inspections to maximize safety, reliability, and uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose diesel and fleet systems
- Perform electrical system repairs and vehicle diagnosis
- Complete preventive maintenance (PMs) and repair orders
- Perform maintenance on tractors, trailers, lift-gates, and equipment
- Perform DOT inspections and compliancy
Technical Overview
The technical scope includes diesel engine and powertrain diagnosis (differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, wheel ends), electrical system repair (starters/alternators/lights/ECM's/ECU's), HVAC/steering service, brake and suspension work (ABS and air disk brakes), and after-treatment device maintenance (DPF and DOC). It also includes preventive maintenance workflows, repair orders, and DOT/FMCSA compliance checks.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a Fleet Mechanic II with 2+ years of diesel maintenance experience who can independently inspect, repair, and diagnose fleet trucks, trailers, and yard tractors. They have strong knowledge of FMCSA standards and can complete DOT inspections, preventive maintenance (PMs), and electrical/engine/brake/after-treatment repairs safely.
