About this role

This role engineers marketing and digital data solutions for Marriott’s Marketing and Digital Data Platforms Owned Pod, enabling enterprise personalization and campaign optimization. The senior engineer will design and implement data platform capabilities, ensure governance and security compliance, and help modernize systems through cloud migration and automated data workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement marketing and digital data solutions for enterprise-scale personalization and analytics
Collaborate with marketing, product, and technology teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards across marketing data platforms
Optimize system performance and reliability via proactive monitoring and tuning
Drive modernization initiatives including cloud migration and automation of data workflows

Technical Overview

You will build large-scale distributed systems and APIs using modern frameworks such as Java and Spring Boot, running on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). The work includes optimizing performance and reliability with monitoring and tuning, and enforcing data governance, security, and compliance across marketing data platforms.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior data engineer with 7+ years of software engineering and data platform development experience, strong cloud expertise across AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, or GCP (Google Cloud Platform), and containerization experience with Docker and Kubernetes. They build large-scale distributed systems and APIs using Java and Spring Boot (or equivalents) while ensuring data governance, security, and compliance. They can collaborate across marketing, product, and technology teams and mentor engineering teams.

Must-Have Skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer ScienceData Engineeringor related field.7+ years of experience in software engineering and data platform development.Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWSAzureor GCP) and containerization (DockerKubernetes).Proficiency in building large-scaledistributed systems and APIs using modern frameworks (e.g.JavaSpring Bootor equivalent).Strong understanding of data governancesecurityand compliance standards.Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across marketing and technology teams.
