The Garage Mechanic 3 repairs and maintains company vehicles by performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and servicing. The role includes machining operations, non-critical welding, tire repairs, and maintaining compliance with ANSI, OSHA, and DOT requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Type A, Type B, and Aerial preventive maintenance inspection and servicing
- Complete operational, condition, and safety inspections
- Perform aerial inspections and repairs compliant with ANSI/OSHA/DOT
- Diagnose and repair/replace/rebuild/overhaul vehicle components
- Perform machining and welding operations and repair tires
Technical Overview
Technical scope focuses on vehicle maintenance and diagnostics, including brake machining (resurfacing drums/rotors, honing cylinders, boring cylinders, grinding valves) and welding (oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, hard facing in non-critical areas). The role also requires proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel) and passing the CAST mechanical aptitude testing.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a mid-level mechanic with 2+ years of experience servicing a wide range of vehicles (automobiles, trucks, buses, industrial/military, and more). They are comfortable performing preventive maintenance and safety inspections, conducting aerial inspections and repairs, and performing machining and welding tasks while meeting ANSI, OSHA, and DOT requirements.
