About this role
The General Manager leads a business unit with full profit and loss (P & L) responsibility across operations. The role drives safety performance, regulatory compliance, market strategy execution, and budget achievement while leading a matrix-managed infrastructure team.
Key Responsibilities
- Implements and executes plans complementing the Area's strategic operating plan
- Works with Area and Region sales management to drive commercial, industrial, residential and municipal sales efforts
- Oversees effective safety and accident prevention programs
- Leads operations to ensure compliance with all standards including environmental, operating, regulatory, safety, accounting and ethics
- Drives change management initiatives to introduce and sustain new processes
Technical Overview
This is a non-technical leadership role focused on waste/collection operations and compliance. The scope covers transfer stations, landfills, and recycling operations, with emphasis on safety programs, environmental compliance, and change management.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced General Manager with 3+ years of progressive leadership and 3+ years of profit and loss (P & L) experience. They have strong operational leadership across collection/post-collection facilities (transfer stations, landfills, recycling centers) and are proven in safety, regulatory compliance, budget achievement, and change management.
