About this role

AECOM is hiring a GIS Intern based in Baltimore, Maryland to support GIS data processing, mapping, and spatial analysis tasks. The role begins as soon as possible and includes converting multiple file formats into GIS datasets and producing map products under supervision.

Key Responsibilities

Utilize GIS to produce, display, and analyze spatial information
Work with databases, reports, and mapping
Perform data conversion from PDF, TIFF, JPEG, CAD into GIS datasets
Develop maps and map products (map books, visual aids, slides)
Develop web maps and Esri field solutions and maintain online services

Technical Overview

This internship is focused on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) workflows: spatial data analysis, database/report support, multi-format data conversion (PDF, TIFF, JPEG, CAD) into GIS datasets, and map production (map books, visual aids, slides). Preferred tooling includes ESRI ArcGISPro, ArcGIS Online, web maps (AGOL, ArcGIS Portal), and Esri field solutions (ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123) with potential work related to underground utilities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a junior GIS/CS or related student who has completed 2 years toward a Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Science, Geography, Environmental Science, Data Science, Water Resource Engineering, or Computer Science. They can use GIS to analyze spatial information, convert data into GIS datasets (PDF/TIFF/JPEG/CAD), and produce map products. Preferred experience includes ESRI ArcGISPro, ArcGIS Online, and building web maps and Esri field solutions such as ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123.
