About this role
AECOM is seeking a mid-career Geotechnical Engineer to support water, wastewater, and flood protection projects in Chelmsford, MA. The role includes leading junior-level engineers under registered professional oversight and providing technical guidance and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical exploration using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
- Assess geotechnical conditions and develop geotechnical engineering solutions for water and wastewater treatment facilities
- Develop geotechnical exploration plans and select soil improvement techniques and foundation support systems using engineering judgment
- Provide direct responsible charge, guidance, and mentorship to junior-level geotechnical engineers
- Serve as technical lead for the Geotechnical Engineering department and provide geotechnical guidance as needed
Technical Overview
This position focuses on geotechnical exploration, assessment of geotechnical conditions, and technical design of geotechnical solutions for water and wastewater treatment facilities. The engineer applies engineering judgment to develop exploration plans and select soil improvement techniques and foundation support systems, while serving as a technical lead and providing direct responsible charge.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a mid-career geotechnical engineer with 4+ years of experience applying geotechnical exploration techniques, assessing geotechnical conditions, and providing geotechnical design for water and wastewater treatment facilities and flood protection projects. They hold a Professional Engineer (PE) registration in a US jurisdiction and can obtain Massachusetts licensure via comity within 12 months. They are comfortable leading and mentoring junior engineers and serving as a technical lead for the Geotechnical Engineering department.
