About this role
AECOM is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support mine tailings, geotechnical, and heavy civil infrastructure projects within the Mining group. The role involves performing geotechnical evaluations and supporting exploration programs under supervision while helping develop reports, drawings, and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement geotechnical exploration programs (30% travel/field time)
- Develop geotechnical laboratory testing assignments
- Perform geotechnical evaluations (material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, settlement)
- Prepare calculation packages and assist with geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications
- Review geotechnical instrumentation and prepare instrumentation monitoring reports
Technical Overview
You will plan and oversee geotechnical exploration and lab testing assignments, perform evaluations (liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, settlement), and prepare calculation packages. You will also review geotechnical instrumentation and produce instrumentation monitoring reports, with potential use of GeoStudio, Utexas, Grapher, and AutoCAD Civil3D.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a geotechnical engineer with at least 2 years of relevant experience and a BA/BS in a related discipline. They have hands-on experience with geotechnical evaluations including liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement, plus familiarity with geotechnical reports and instrumentation monitoring. Preferred candidates also have EIT certification (or the ability to obtain within 6 months) and some exposure to GeoStudio and AutoCAD Civil3D.
