About this role
The GOA Drilling Engineer provides engineering and regulatory support for exploration and development well work, ensuring operations are conducted safely and in compliance with requirements. The role covers well design reviews, drilling procedure preparation, field technical support, reporting/data correction, and well file management through end-of-well reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage working interest partners during planning and execution
- Lead internal well design reviews, risk assessments, and hazard survey approvals
- Develop drilling procedures and coordinate SMEs/vendors for assigned wells using MOC process
- Provide technical support for daily drilling operations and manage well files
- Ensure permitting, regulatory compliance, and coordinate end-of-well benchmarking and reviews
Technical Overview
You will manage and document the engineering workflow for wells, including risk assessments, hazard surveys, drilling procedures, MOC process updates, DWOP (pre-spud) preparation, and daily morning report monitoring with data error corrections. You will also handle permitting and regulatory communications and coordinate end-of-well reporting and reviews.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a drilling engineer supporting exploration and development well operations with strong technical ownership across well design, procedures, risk assessments, and permitting. They actively manage drilling execution with working interest partners and coordinate field engineering support, ensuring compliance with HESMS Program requirements.
