About this role
The Payroll Specialist provides accurate payroll processing and payroll/HR compliance for assigned locations, ensuring adherence to federal and state wage and hour laws. The role also audits payroll records, handles manual checks and final pay checks, and trains Business Office Managers on payroll systems and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for assigned locations and review payroll changes documentation
- Serve as payroll subject matter expert on payroll processes, timekeeping, and payroll/HR compliance
- Complete semi-monthly payroll closing accurately and on time
- Audit payroll records for accuracy, payroll deductions, and required approvals; process manual checks and final pay checks
- Train and support Business Office Managers (BOM) on Pay NW systems and payroll policies, and file monthly SAIF reports with vacation/sick accruals
Technical Overview
The technical scope includes managing payroll through timekeeping and payroll systems, completing semi-monthly payroll closings, processing Personnel Action Notices (PAN) and HR Actions, and maintaining employee records in the payroll system. It also includes generating monthly SAIF reports and managing vacation and sick accruals with strong data integrity controls.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a payroll specialist who can independently process accurate payroll for multiple locations and serve as a subject matter expert on payroll processes, timekeeping, and payroll/HR compliance. They are detail-oriented with strong audit skills for payroll records, knowledgeable about federal and state wage and hour laws, and experienced using payroll systems such as Pay NW.
