About this role
The Plant Maintenance Mechanic maintains production and auxiliary support equipment by troubleshooting complex mechanical systems and performing repairs and rebuilds. The role works in either the Melt Shop or Rolling Mill and reports to the Mechanical Lead and Mechanical Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems
- Repair and rebuild mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Perform Stick and MIG welding, fabrication, and basic machining
- Use precision alignment, rigging, and standard maintenance tools
- Follow safety policies including LOTO and confined space procedures

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a maintenance mechanic with 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in heavy manufacturing or steel, strong in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. They are skilled in Stick and MIG welding, fabrication, basic machining, precision alignment, and rigging, with working knowledge of LOTO and confined space procedures and a strong safety-first mindset.
Must-Have Skills
Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing or steel environment.Proven ability to troubleshootrepairand rebuild mechanicalhydraulicand pneumatic systems.Skilled in Stick and MIG weldingfabricationand basic machining practices.Proficient with precision alignmentriggingand use of standard maintenance tools.Working knowledge of LOTOconfined spaceand other industrial safety procedures.Ability to initiateleadand uphold safety policiespracticesproceduresand housekeeping standards at all times.Willing to work a rotating scheduleincluding weekendsnightsand holidays as needed.
