About this role
This role maintains and upgrades refinery field instrumentation at the Ferndale Refinery. The technician installs, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs, and commissions a range of transmitters, analyzers, controllers, and automated valves in an outdoor industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all refinery safe practices and procedures
- Perform Job Safety Analysis as required
- Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain field instrumentation
- Troubleshoot and maintain process analyzers and sample systems
- Configure, install, perform loop checks, and commission new instrumentation
Technical Overview
You will work on process instrumentation including pneumatic and electronic transmitters, analyzers and sample systems (including gas chromatographs and continuous emission monitoring systems), and vibration/temperature monitoring systems. The position includes reading loop drawings and P&IDs, performing loop checks and commissioning, using multi-meters and calibration equipment, and working with distributed controls systems and programmable logic controllers.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an instrumentation-focused technician with experience installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting field instruments in an industrial refinery environment. They are comfortable reading and interpreting loop drawings, P&IDs, and wiring schematics, and performing energized instrument wiring work up to 125V while following refinery safety practices.
