About this role
The Investment Accounting Manager is an individual contributor role within MassMutual’s Financial Controllership Team, reporting into the Director of Partnerships. The role drives investment accounting execution, close-cycle activities, internal control efforts, and continuous improvement for partnership-related investment accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage ongoing investment accounting activities across monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles
- Lead internal control efforts for investment controllership
- Identify and implement accounting improvements that increase business value and team efficiency
- Initiate or lead continuous improvement activities to improve quality and cycle times
- Participate in implementation of the Company’s new ledger and coordinate with Investment Management
Technical Overview
This position owns monthly, quarterly, and annual close-cycle responsibilities and leads internal control efforts in the investment controllership function. It specifically requires substantial financial reporting experience on Alternative Investments and includes participation in implementing a new ledger.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior investment accounting professional with 6+ years of financial reporting experience and at least 4 years focused on Alternative Investments. They are strong in close-cycle ownership (monthly, quarterly, annual), internal controls leadership, and driving process improvements while coordinating effectively with Investment Management and business partners.
