About this role

Broadcom's Mainframe Software Division seeks a Java Engineer to build scalable REST APIs and integrate with mainframe systems, in an Agile environment. The role focuses on building, testing, and supporting cybersecurity and compliance solutions for large enterprises.

Key Responsibilities

Create and implement scalable RESTful APIs for frontend-backend mainframe integration
Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews
Participate in Agile ceremonies and deliver stories within sprints
Interact with customers for support and feedback
Contribute to API security, testing, and deployment automation

Stack includes Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL; API security; Swagger; DevOps with Jenkins; Mainframe integration tools Endevor, TSO/ISPF; Knowledge of z/OS, z/VM, z/OSMF; Additional languages Assembler, COBOL, REXX, JCL; Security and compliance focus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior Java engineer with 5+ years of REST API design, strong Spring Boot experience, and deep SQL knowledge, plus front-end awareness. They should have hands-on experience with mainframe tooling (z/OS, Endevor, TSO/ISPF) and a proactive, Agile mindset to deliver scalable integrations with mainframe systems.
