About this role
Regional Environmental Engineer on AWS Environmental Team leads environmental permitting and compliance for AWS datacenters globally, developing risk-based regional strategies and managing complex regulatory interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess environmental risks and develop mitigations and strategies to support data center siting and development
- Lead technical aspects of environmental due diligence including Phase I and Phase II ESAs
- Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans to enable on-time and compliant construction
- Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible
- Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations in support of environmental permit acquisition
Technical Overview
Encompasses Phase I/II ESAs, environmental permitting, and compliance planning; experience with major environmental statutes (CWA, NPDES, RCRA, SPCC, SARA Title III) and risk management.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior environmental engineer with 7+ years delivering multi-media environmental due diligence and permitting; experienced with Phase I/II ESAs, regulatory negotiations, and environmental compliance programs.
Must-Have Skills
Knowledge of MS ExcelWordand Windows Operating SystemsBachelor's degree in engineeringenvironmental scienceor related discipline.7+ years of experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligencepermittingand compliance for existing sites and new development.7+ years experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sitesincluding Phase I and Phase II ESAs and support for investigative and remedial activities.At least 3 years of project or task management experience for environmental permitting and/or due diligence projects.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience in permitting within multiple states within the southwestern US (preferably in CANVAZNM).Data center or critical infrastructure due diligencedesignconstructionand/or risk assessment experience strongly preferred.Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions.
