The Principal - Data Science is an independent contributor role focused on end-to-end data science initiatives for Ally's Consumer Auto Servicing. The role involves problem framing, data acquisition, modeling, deployment, and measuring impact, while mentoring developing analytics professionals and collaborating with cross-functional partners.

• Partner with business leaders to translate ambiguous questions into data-driven solutions
• Design, implement, and interpret experiments to evaluate strategy changes and quantify impact
• Build robust, scalable models and analytics pipelines; ensure reliability and observability
• Develop high-quality data assets: feature stores, dashboards, and data quality monitoring
• Own end-to-end project delivery including stakeholder alignment, risk management, and on-time delivery

Stack includes SQL, Python (and optionally R/SAS), AWS, Git; end-to-end data pipelines; robust modeling, validation, back-testing, and monitoring; productionizing analytics pipelines; feature stores; model risk management; dashboards and data assets.

The ideal candidate is a senior data science leader with 5+ years of analytics/machine learning experience in financial services, strong AWS and SQL skills, and a proven track record of productionizing models and building end-to-end data pipelines. They excel at partnering with stakeholders, mentoring analytics professionals, and translating ambiguous business questions into measurable, data-driven solutions.
