About this role
Remote Joint Use Engineer supporting the design, analysis, and permitting of aerial telecommunications infrastructure. You will perform pole loading analysis, evaluate field data, determine make-ready requirements, and ensure compliance with applicable safety and utility standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pole loading analysis using O-Calc Pro to evaluate pole capacity
- Recommend make-ready construction requirements (pole replacements, guying, attachment rearrangements)
- Ensure designs meet standards including National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), RUS, and General Order 95
- Design and review aerial and underground telecom routes including riser facilities and utility crossings
- Prepare engineering documentation and permits; conduct quality control reviews
Technical Overview
You will use O-Calc Pro and Poleforeman to conduct pole loading calculations and assess structural compliance for aerial and underground telecom routes. The role includes applying National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), General Order 95, and RUS requirements, producing engineering documentation and permit submissions, and performing quality control reviews of designs and construction drawings with AutoCAD.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a Joint Use Engineer with 3–5 years of OSP engineering or joint-use engineering experience in the telecommunications or fiber-optic construction industry. They have strong pole loading analysis experience using O-Calc Pro and Poleforeman, are proficient with AutoCAD, understand NESC clearance and structural rules, and are comfortable producing documentation and permitting for aerial telecom make-ready designs.
