About this role
This role repairs and maintains heavy equipment used in landfill operations, including diagnostics across mechanical, electrical, and emission systems. The technician also completes required documentation and reporting while following OSHA safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems
- Perform repair or preventative maintenance on electrical, diesel and gasoline vehicles
- Read and interpret equipment condition reports and/or repair orders, communicate with supervisor/operator
- Complete paperwork, documenting parts usage and work order times
- Complete daily consumables report and interpret oil sampling/fleet management analyses
Technical Overview
Work includes preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on hydraulic, fuel, exhaust, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC, and emission systems for gas and diesel engines. The technician uses equipment condition reports/repair orders, oil sampling/on-board computer data, and fleet management reporting (Dossier) to reduce repeat failures and support operations.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a heavy equipment technician with at least 1 year of experience maintaining and repairing landfill and construction equipment such as compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders. They have strong ASE-backed mechanical troubleshooting skills across brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and emissions, and they consistently follow OSHA safety requirements.
