About this role
HealthEdge is seeking an Accessibility & Section 508 Compliance Lead to serve as the internal subject matter expert for digital accessibility. The role owns Section 508 compliance and WCAG conformance across the product suite while leading hands-on testing, remediation coordination, and enablement across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary internal authority on Section 508 and WCAG standards for the product suite
- Conduct hands-on accessibility testing and reporting, triage and prioritize issues with an external auditor
- Establish and maintain a compliance tracking framework with severity, owners, and timelines
- Coordinate developers remediating accessibility issues and create best-practice documentation/training
- Support QA automation for functional accessibility testing and integrate scanning into CI/CD pipelines
Technical Overview
This is a compliance and accessibility engineering leadership role focused on Section 508 and WCAG 2.2 (AA). The position involves hands-on accessibility testing, interpreting audits from tools like axe/Deque/NVDA/JAWS/VoiceOver, performing front-end code reviews across HTML/CSS/JavaScript/React, and integrating automated accessibility scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has 8+ years of accessibility testing experience and deep, hands-on expertise applying Section 508 compliance requirements in a B2B SaaS environment. They are strong in WCAG 2.2 (AA), can review HTML/CSS/JavaScript (including React), and have experience using tools like axe, Deque, NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver to interpret audit findings and drive remediation. They can lead cross-functional teams with clear documentation and governance around VPATs and CI/CD accessibility automation.
