About this role
This role administers, secures, and maintains Linux-based systems supporting a federal client’s critical logistics and operational applications. You will perform patching, hardening, troubleshooting, and automation while supporting Tier II/III operations and maintaining technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Linux systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux, CentOS)
- Implement security hardening with STIGs and RMF compliance
- Perform system patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance
- Develop automation scripts in Bash and Python for operational streamlining
- Support virtualization and container platforms (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes) and provide Tier II/III support
Technical Overview
The scope includes Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and similar distributions, security compliance with STIGs and Risk Management Framework (RMF), and core networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls). The environment also includes virtualization and container platforms such as VMware, Docker, and Kubernetes, with automation using Bash, Python, and tools like Ansible/Puppet/Chef.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior Linux Systems Administrator with 8+ years of Linux administration experience, strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) skills, and experience patching, hardening, and performance tuning. They hold an active Secret clearance and CompTIA Security+ and can demonstrate STIG and Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance, along with Bash and Python automation experience.
